PRINCESS KATE IS AT ODDS WITH QUEEN CONSORT CAMILLA — AND DOESN’T THINK HER STEPMOTHER-IN- LAW IS DESERVING OF THE CROWN.

TENSIONS were understandably high for members of the royal family as they attended the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II on Sept. 19. But things seemed to be especially uncomfortable between Princess Kate and her stepmother-in-law, Queen Consort Camilla. As mourners gathered near Wellington Arch in London to watch the Queen's coffin depart, the two women appeared to have a quick heated exchange after Kate's daughter, Princess Charlotte, reacted to a pinch from her older brother, Prince George. Some believe Camilla sternly told Kate to get control of her children before the televised proceedings continued.

Palace sources aren't surprised by reports of public discord between Kate, 41, and Camilla, 75, who officially became queen consort upon the death of the  Queen at age 96 on Sept. 8. One insider tells Star the warring royals recently had an explosive fight at Windsor Castle, where an angry Kate told Camilla she's not fit to wear the crown. "Ever since the Queen died, Camilla has been throwing her weight around showing everyone who's boss," says the insider. "Kate is becoming increasingly irritated with her. She thinks Camilla is a good-time girl who doesn't take her royal duties seriously and that she doesn't deserve the role. Things have been very awkward."
