On the Oct. 10 episode of the Unapologetically Angel podcast, Travis Kelce’s ex Kayla Nicole opened up about her five-year on-off relationship with the athlete, who’s now a year into a romance with music star Taylor Swift. From her expectations of marriage and the circumstances of their split to who really paid their bills, Kayla didn’t hold back. She also addressed online haters, insisting she doesn’t know why she’s faced so much negativity since Travis and Taylor started dating. “I think that there’s something about that level of fame that attracts crazy people,” Kayla said. “It’s unfortunate because I’ve never done anything to warrant that kind of backlash.”

But instead of clearing the air, Kayla only sparked more criticism. Days after her comments made headlines and fueled fresh calls from fans for her to stop talking about Travis two and a half years after their split, the 32-year-old said she regretted being so open. “You know my personality: it’s spicy!” she said on the Oct. 15 episode of I Am Athlete Daily. “I thought that I handled things with grace.” The drama has been a nightmare for Taylor, 34, too. “She understands Travis dated other women before her, but it’s annoying when an ex like Kayla talks publicly about it,” a source tells Star. “She’s sorry Kayla’s facing so much backlash from her fans — they can be overprotective — but Travis has moved on, and maybe it’s about time Kayla does, too.”
