She may have been channelling 1977’s Superstar Barbie in a custom hot-pink Giorgio Armani Privé gown but Margot Robbie didn’t need the dazzling dress to define her status among her fellow celebrities at the 2024 Golden Globes on January 7. The 33-year-old Queenslander had already dominated the discourse in the lead up to the first big awards show of the season with her hit film, Barbie, landing a whopping nine nominations.

And while the film missed out on some of the major categories at the ceremony, Robbie did walk away with the first-ever award for Cinematic and Box Office Achievement. “I would like to dedicate this to every single person on the planet who dressed up and went to the greatest place on earth: the movie theatres,” she said during her acceptance speech.

Of course, Robbie wasn’t the only Aussie to shine bright on the night, with Succession’s Sarah Snook and The Crown’s Elizabeth Debicki also taking home golden gongs. Adelaidean Snook was awarded Best Female Actor in a Drama Series – her second Globe – for her ruthless portrayal of Shiv Roy in the show’s final season.
