Renovating your home can be an exciting time, but when it comes to bringing your vision to life, finding the best builder for the job can be tricky. Neil Hipwell, founding director of design and build company Futureflip, shares his advice.

1 DEFINE YOUR VISION

Hipwell recommends creating a mood board to communicate your ideas. "Before approaching potential builders, think about exactly what you're looking to achieve," he suggests. "Having a set vision from the start is key for a successful build. One great way to clarify your vision is to gather relevant images and present them as a mood board. Using a site such as Style Sourcebook helps to break down specific elements, from your colour ideas to your external façade materials. Start to consider the needs of your build, including the materials that could help you achieve the look, whether it's a box modern style or a more relaxed Hamptons look."

2. FINDING YOUR BUILDER
