Corey & India - A RIGHT ROYAL ROMANCE

When it premiered on Netflix in 2020, Bridgerton’s mix of gossip, romance and raunchy scenes made it an instant success. Its new prequel series is set to titillate just as much. Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story might be set 40 years before Simon (Regé-Jean Page) swept Daphne (Phoebe Dynevor) off her feet and into his bed, at a time when the ’ton was a very different place, but that doesn’t mean King George III (Corey Mylchreest) burns for Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz (India Amarteifio) any less.

The drama is based on the real-life story of the historical couple, who tied the knot in 1761, just six hours after the teenage bride arrived in England from Germany. While their relationship started out as an arranged marriage, it quickly turned into one of British history’s most legendary romances, with the king scandalising Georgian society by opting to never take a mistress.

While the Netflix series does embellish their story, the fact that Charlotte and George went on to have 15 children does provide a basis to have them in the boudoir fairly often. That meant Mylchreest and Amarteifio had to get really comfortable with each other very quickly.
