But as it draws to a close, there are plenty of signs that good things are just around the corner as his wife, Princess Catherine, continues her gradual return to public life.

Following months of keeping a low profile while she was treated for cancer, Kate, 42, was back with a bang on the second weekend in November as she attended multiple engagements with the royal family to mark Remembrance Day.

On the evening of November 9, the Prince and Princess of Wales attended the Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall. Turning it into something of a date night, William placed his arm around a beaming Kate's waist while she gave her husband a little rub on his back as they made their way into the venue.
