In 2010, Sandra Bullock’s joy at taking home the Best Actress Academy Award for her role as Leigh Anne Tuohy in The Blind Side was cut short when, days after the ceremony, her win was overshadowed by the scandalous news her husband, Jesse James, had been cheating on her with multiple women. Now, she finds herself involved in a new drama surrounding the movie.

The star, who is still grieving her long-term partner, photographer Bryan Randall, who died August 5 after a private battle with ALS, was hit with the news just nine days later that Michael Oher, the former NFL player whose poverty-to-professional-football life story inspired the heartwarming film, filed a 14-page legal document alleging that the Tuohy family did not legally adopt him but tricked him into making them his conservators when he was 18.

“Where other parents of Michael’s classmates saw Michael simply as a nice kid in need, Conservators Sean Tuohy and Leigh Anne Tuohy saw something else,” the petition alleges. “A gullible young man whose athletic talent could be exploited for their own benefit.”
