He found his 6-year-old daughter brutally murdered — now John Ramsey believes he knows who did it

The images of JonBenét Ramsey are infamous — a little girl dressed up like a grown-up beauty queen in sparkles and lace, her blond hair curled into ringlets, her lips painted bright pink. “I didn’t like the costumes and stuff,” says her father, John Ramsey, who instead remembers his 6-year-old daughter as a tomboy who loved to play in the backyard. “But I didn’t say anything because [her mom] Patsy and JonBenét were having such a good time together.”

Not speaking up has become his biggest regret. In a new interview, nearly 27 years after he found his daughter’s bludgeoned and strangled body in the basement of his Boulder, Colo., home, John reveals he believes that she was murdered because he allowed her to dress up for the controversial competitions. “I thought these pageants were just attended by moms and dads and grandparents. But we later learned that people were attending these pageants who had no business being there: pedophiles.”
