Her two sons, Victor and Ronnie, were still sleeping, and she wanted to finish as much work as possible before they woke up.
Today, she had to take her children to the market and buy them things of their choice. Mary's husband, Joseph, had passed away in an accident two years ago, so she had been taking care of the household and the work all by herself.
She cleaned the house and prepared breakfast. Meanwhile, Victor and Ronnie woke up and came to the kitchen.
"Good morning, Mom!" Victor said.
"Good morning! You woke up late today, Victor. Look at the time it's nine o'clock." "Mom, it's so much fun to relax on a holiday," Victor lazily said.
"Okay, now quickly go and bathe. I have prepared breakfast. We have to go to the market soon," Mary said.
Victor quickly went to the bathroom. But Ronnie was still standing there. He asked, "Mom, what's for breakfast today?"
"I made sandwiches. You also go freshen up quickly. We have to get ready to go out," Mary replied.
"Mom, I don't want to eat sandwiches. You make the same thing every day. Please make momos for me," Ronny groaned.
"I have a lot of work to do at the market, and I also have to go to the office tomorrow. Making momos right now will take too much time. Eat the sandwiches today and I promise I will make your favourite breakfast tomorrow," she said while lovingly caressing his head.
"Mom, you can't fulfill even a small wish of mine. How does Santa Claus fulfill the wishes of all the children by visiting so many houses in one night on Christmas?" Ronnie asked.
"Santa Claus is an extraordinary person, and we are ordinary ones. He can do anything in a short time, but we don't have that much capability," Mary answered with a patient smile.
After much persuasion, Ronnie freshened up and ate sandwiches.
