The way I see it, is that every event in my life led me to that day when I was introduced to a way of breathing that would propel me into my own journey of self-exploration, realisation and actualisation. And through it I would serve the world," shares breathwork therapist, consciousness guide, and founder of KaleidoscopeKat, Karishma Kapoor.
Born in Mumbai into a fairly conventional Indian household, Karishma and her brother were raised by a Punjabi father and a Sindhi mother. "I came into this world extremely curious, sensitive, alert and highly energetic. I wanted to know why things worked the way they did and I was drawn to artistic expression in all forms. A voracious reader, I devoured literature and fiction of all flavours."
Karishma entered her 30's as a successful advertising producer who had a 100+ ads, 2 international crossover movie productions, and a host of titles under her belt in a 7-year lucrative run in the industry. But something was missing. "In my last year in the industry I had moved on from advertising into long format creation for digital platforms, but I found myself unfulfilled on a visceral level," she shares. The advent of the COVID-19 pandemic proved to be a catalyst - one that gave her a much-needed push to take a leap of faith and invest in herself.
Currently, Karishma lives and works between Mumbai, Goa, and Dharamkot. To better understand what she does, and how she does it, we asked her a few questions about healing, breathwork and her brand, of course!
SL: What does Kaleidoscopekat encompass? What made you decide to switch paths?
KK: I birthed Kaleidoscopekat not just to be a brand, but to be a voice on the elasticity of the human experience and to offer a myriad of perspectives on what it truly means to be human.
