ONE OF HOLLYWOOD'S YOUNGEST PRODUCERS, MARSAI MARTIN IS NOT JUST A MOVIE MOGUL BUT A FORCE TO BE RECKONED WITH IN THE FIGHT FOR EMPOWERING YOUTH
LEAH DENNIS
NO LIMITS

She's won multiple NAACP Image Awards and a BET Young Star Award, produced movies, and is the CEO of Genius Entertainment - a Los Angeles-based production company committed to creating compelling stories. But Marsai Martin is ready to do more than just nab awards, she's using her celebrity status to speak out and support vulnerable young people facing unimaginable circumstances.

Those glued to the small screen will recognise her as Diane Johnson in the multi-award-winning sitcom Black-ish, but she is also lauded for her breakthrough performances in thought-provoking films like An American Girl Story: Melody 1963 Love Has to Win in which she portrayed an African-American girl facing adversity during the Civil Rights Movement in Detroit. In Little (which she co-produced) she shed light on authentic Black perspectives of womanhood and identity politics.

JUST say NO

Let's admit it - some of us are big people-pleasers. We don't want to let anyone down, and we feel like saying 'no' to a favour, an invite, a request or a suggestion is rude. The truth is, we can say no, and there are polite ways to do it.
