Reducing the amount we consume unnecessarily is one of the keys to more sustainable living. The fewer impulsive buys you make, the better for the planet in terms of harmful CO2 emissions when it – or even just its packaging – gets dumped in a landfill.

There are many jokes going around about how we Indians can convert old clothes into anything except food. Good on us! Yes, you can certainly do paisa vasooli and be more planet-friendly by turning that old T-shirt into a hair towel, napkins, the ubiquitous cleaning rag or even weaving it into a floor mat. Each new avatar keeps it out of the landfill for longer.
