LIVE AWARDS BAFTA Film Awards Sunday, 7pm, BBC1

With hit movies Oppenheimer and Barbie wowing millions of cinemagoers, many film fans have billed 2023 as the year Hollywood bounced back.

Released on the same weekend in July last year, the two movies broke box-office records and established a cultural phenomenon known as 'Barbenheimer.

Now, the two very different films are battling it out at the BAFTA Film Awards, hosted by David Tennant from London's Royal Festival Hall on Sunday night. Oppenheimer, a biopic of the eponymous US atomic physicist, leads the nominations with a total of 13, compared with just five for feminist fantasy comedy Barbie, which has missed out on a nod for Best Film despite being the top grossing movie of 2023.

There are plenty of other acclaimed films up for gongs, including cult psychological thriller Saltburn and heart-wrenching ghost story All of Us Strangers. Meanwhile, movie legend Robert De Niro is in the running for his first ever BAFTA at the age of 80 for his supporting role in epic western drama Killers of the Flower Moon.

Here, David Tennant tells us more about the big night….

How are you feeling about hosting this year's BAFTA Film Awards?
