Following a lengthy absence from the pool, there were rumours that Olympic diver Tom Daley was all set to retire. But after some encouragement from his six-year-old son Robbie, who desperately wanted to see his dad compete, the Team GB gold medallist is back on the dive platform on Monday - ready to make history again.

Following his debut as a 14-year-old at Beijing in 2008, the hugely popular sports star is set to become the first British diver to compete at five Olympic Games.

MOTIVATION

'I genuinely thought I was going to retire after the Tokyo Games, but I never said, "Yes, I'm done," says Daley, now aged 30. 'Robbie is so excited because he'll be in Paris this summer. Every time I compete, he gives me a prediction on what place I'm going to finish and gives me tips on how to beat the Chinese divers.

'When I was 10, I told people that I was going to win a gold medal and go to five Olympic Games but I never thought I would'
