Over the course of a turbulent life and career, ‘Iron’ Mike Tyson became the youngest boxer to win a heavyweight title, famously bit off part of Evander Holyfield’s ear during a fight, and spent almost three years in prison after being convicted of rape.
Now, a new series starring Moonlight’s Trevante Rhodes in the title role tells Tyson’s incredible story of damage, disgrace, grim determination and glory.
With the framing device of the retired Tyson reflecting on his past, the series kicks off with the troubled 1970s Brooklyn childhood of young Mike, who was bullied because of his weight, high-pitched voice and lisp.
