Wildlife film-maker Gordon Buchanan takes on his biggest challenge yet as he leads a team of Alaskan huskies for eight days across Canada’s icy landscape in BBC2’s Snow Dogs.
Inspired by Jack London’s book The Call of the Wild, about gold rushers seeking their fortune in the Yukon, Buchanan fulfils his lifelong dream of mastering a dog sled team as he takes them across a treacherous frozen wilderness.
Camping out alone for eight days in freezing conditions, and dealing with sled crashes and blizzards, Buchanan soon realises that the experience might be a step too far for a novice musher like him.
