NEW DRAMA We Were the Lucky Ones From Wednesday 19 June, Disney+
Following Sky Atlantic's moving true-life drama The Tattooist of Auschwitz, the horrors of the Holocaust are revisited in Disney+'s new eight-part series We Were the Lucky Ones, which focuses on a Jewish family from Poland who are forced apart as they flee persecution at the beginning of World War Two.
Based on the bestseller by Georgia Hunter, which was inspired by the experiences of her own family members, the wartime drama stars Logan Lerman and Joey King as brother and sister Addy and Halina Kurc, who, alongside their three siblings Genek, Jakob and Mila - and parents Sol and Nechuma, must fight for survival following the Nazi invasion.
'When I read the book, it was clear to me this story had something new to explore that I haven't seen before in film or television,' says Lerman, 32, who played Nazi hunter Jonah Heidelbaum in Prime Video's hit series Hunters.
