NEW THRILLER
Insomnia
From Thu 23 May, Paramount+ (first two eps from 23 May, then weekly)
After the success of Line of Duty and Trigger Point, it almost feels strange to see Vicky McClure in jeans and a jumper with her hair down. She's relaxed and breezy, without any urgent agenda to arrest a suspect or defuse a bomb.
TV&Satellite Week is chatting to the star in her trailer on a rainy day in Hertfordshire as she takes a break on the set of Paramount+'s six-part thriller Insomnia, in which she plays lawyer and happily married mother-of-two Emma Averill.
Her comfortable life ticks every box, but in the run-up to her 40th birthday, she starts to struggle with insomnia, causing Emma to remember her mother's battle with severe mental illness, which began with sleepless nights. Terrified that she's heading in the same direction, she panics and her perfect life starts to unravel.
Here, McClure, 41, tells us more...
