NEW CRIME DRAMA
The Hunt for Raoul Moat
Sunday-Tuesday, 9pm, ITV1
When former convict Raoul Moat went on the run in the North-East of England in July 2010 after wounding his ex-partner Samantha Stobbart and killing her boyfriend Chris Brown, the nation was gripped by one of the most-notorious manhunts in living memory.
The involvement of TV survival expert Ray Mears in the search plus the bizarre appearance of football legend Paul Gascoigne are two details that many people remember. However, ITV1’s compelling dramatisation, starring Lee Ingleby as police officer Neil Adamson and Matt Stokoe as Moat, focuses on the victims, their families and the operation to track the murderer down and end his killing spree.
‘The intention was to go beyond the name of Raoul Moat,’ explains The A Word star Ingleby, 47. ‘Most people remember Gazza turning up. But as you’ll see, that was such an insignificant part of the story.’
