OUR CHANGING PLANET

NEW SUNDAY, 7PM, BBC1 FACTUAL

Last April, BBC1 began an ambitious project to follow six vulnerable habitats over the course of seven years to examine the impact environmental changes are having on animals across the world.

Now, the six presenters of Our Changing Planet – Ade Adepitan, Chris Packham, Ella Al-Shamahi, Gordon Buchanan, Liz Bonnin and Steve Backshall – are returning to those locations for a two-part update series in which they reveal what’s happened in the past year, and explore what the future might hold.

TV Times joined Ade, 50, for an exclusive interview to find out more…

What reaction did the first series receive?

People love cute animals, and there are a lot in this show. When people approach me, they talk about how beautiful it was, but I would like to sit down and have a deeper conversation with them to say, ‘Are you joining the dots here?’ Beyond the cuteness, there’s a lot more to this: we want these animals to be around for thousands more years, and it’s not going to happen if things don’t change.
