ALL CREATURES GREAT AND SMALL
THURSDAY, 9PM, CHANNEL 5 DRAMA

With his cheeky charm and deep compassion towards animals, Tristan Farnon has always been at the heart of Skeldale House life in Channel 5's ever-popular period drama All Creatures Great and Small.

So the fun-loving vet was greatly missed by his big brother Siegfried (Samuel West) and friends in the (fictional) Yorkshire village of Darrowby - as well as viewers - when he was absent during the last series while carrying out wartime service in Egypt with the Royal Army Veterinary Corps (RAVC).

And when TV Times joins Callum Woodhouse, who plays him, for an exclusive chat about Tristan's homecoming this week, he reveals that we're not the only ones who are glad he's back...

'My mother is pleased, too - she sends me all the articles about Tristan!' chuckles Callum, 30, who came to fame in hit ITV comedy dramas Cold Feet and The Durrells.

'And when I put up a social-media post about Tristan's return, the reaction was so nice. People have missed Tris - he's such a loved character.' Here, Callum tells us more...

What can you tease about Tristan’s return?

I can’t give much away, but the first scene is fantastic! Every time Tristan has come and gone, it’s been at the train station. It’s shot at the same station [Oakworth in Yorkshire] where they filmed the [1970] film version of The Railway Children with Jenny Agutter. It’s like stepping back in time.

How has Tristan changed since he has been away?

He’s more mature, but there’s still a bit of an idiot inside him, which people will be glad to hear! But he’s also putting on bravado. He’s been working with animals in the RAVC, so he’s not been on the front line every day, but he’s seen his share
