CRIMINAL RECORD

NEW FROM WED 10 JANUARY, APPLE TV+ THRILLER (FIRST TWO EPS FROM 10 JAN, THEN WEEKLY)

Two trailblazing detectives become embroiled in a dangerous and bitterly personal battle of wills in a new London-set crime thriller featuring former Doctor Who star Peter Capaldi and Stay Close's Cush Jumbo.

Created by Vera writer Paul Rutman, eight-part Apple TV+ series Criminal Record follows upcoming, razor-sharp DS June Lenker (played by Cush), who is assigned to look into an anonymous call that could shed fresh light on a historic murder.

But when she questions the officer on the case at the time, Daniel Hegarty (portrayed by Peter) - who's now a highly regarded, well-connected DCI -he's reluctant to discuss Errol Mathis (Famalam's Tom Moutchi), the man he helped put behind bars 11 years ago. As June continues to lock horns with her guarded superior, is he simply trying to protect his legacy, or is he hiding something more sinister? TV Times caught up with Peter, 65, and Cush, 38, to find out more about the show, which launches with a double bill...

What can you tell us about DCI Daniel Hegarty and DS June Lenker?

PETER Hegarty is a tough but very successful DCI in east London. He's near retirement and has a clear view on how the business of being a police officer should be conducted. But then June comes into his life, digging into his past and into his integrity. Ultimately, if she gets in his way, she will be making a mistake.
