THE CONFESSIONS OF FRANNIE LANGTON
MONDAY-THURSDAY, 9PM, ITV1 DRAMA (BOX SET, ITVX)

A troubled heroine’s fight to prove her innocence after being accused of double murder takes us on a journey from a Jamaican plantation to a Mayfair mansion via the crucible of an Old Bailey courtroom in ITV1’s Georgian-era mystery The Confessions of Frannie Langton.

Adapted by author Sara Collins from her award-winning 2019 debut novel of the same name, the four-part series sees Karla-Simone Spence (Gold Digger) play book-loving Frannie, a slave from Jamaica who is gifted by her cruel owner, John Langton (Steven Mackintosh), as a servant to a wealthy London couple.

But when scientist George Benham (Stephen Campbell Moore) and his melancholic French wife, Madame Marguerite (Sophie Cookson), are found dead, Frannie is in the frame for murder, despite her pleas that she was in love with her mistress.

‘Frannie wants the world to know what she went through from her own account,’ explains Karla-Simone, 27, who, here, tells TV Times more…

What appealed to you most about this drama?

It’s an incredible story and I was really intrigued by Frannie’s journey; she’s an incredibly resilient woman. As soon as I read the scripts, I was like, ‘I have to play her.’

Where do we find Frannie at the start of the series?
