Prepare for mayhem, mischief and monumental acts of bravery in SAS Rogue Heroes, an epic new period drama from Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight.

Swapping the backstreets of Birmingham for the deserts of North Africa, Steven reveals the remarkable true story of how a maverick group of officers formed the world’s greatest special-forces unit, the SAS, in the darkest days of World War Two.

Based on Ben Macintyre’s 2016 book, the six-part series relates how the soldiers hatched a daring plan to attack where the enemy least expected it – behind enemy lines. It was a mission that rewrote military history, helping tip the war back in the Allies’ favour.

‘These guys were in their early 20s and in some cases younger,’ says Steven, 63. ‘They were basically my kids’ age and they went to the blood and guts of the war and did what they did.

‘They were a mixture of all classes that all worked together and changed the course of the war. I just hope we can reflect the madness, wildness and humour of these men, and do justice to who they were and what they did.’
