After weeks of lingering looks, long hugs and loaded hair-touching, Carla and Lisa have become a couple. But most of the locals still think they’re just good friends.
As cop Lisa starts to feel invisible, can Carla get over her fears and announce her new relationship to the world… or at least wider Weatherfield?
‘Carla’s very confident in her sexuality,’ says show boss Kate Brooks, ‘but she flinches a little bit about the idea of people gossiping.’
A supposedly romantic spa date at the Chariot Square Hotel (where else?) proves particularly awkward. Spotting the ladies together, Debbie strides over and comments that it’s nice to see ‘friends’ having fun. That Carla fails to correct her isn’t lost on Lisa, who’s left sitting there like a prize plum.
