Famous for his six wives, Tudor I monarch Henry VIII also brought chaos by separating the Church of England from Catholicism, closing down many convents and monasteries. And it's against this turbulence that period drama Shardlake, billed as a 'Tudor Inspector Morse', is set.
Following a commissioner's murder at a monastery that's set to close, London barrister Matthew Shardlake (Arthur Hughes) is dispatched by Thomas Cromwell (Sean Bean) to investigate.
