The true tale of the medical pioneers who developed in vitro fertilisation (IVF) is told in new Netflix drama Joy.
James Norton plays Cambridge-based scientist Dr Robert ‘Bob’ Edwards and the story starts in 1968 as he’s carrying out fertility research on rodents to create embryos outside the body, which he hopes may eventually help people who are struggling to conceive.
‘It is a celebration of good people,’ says Happy Valley star James. ‘It’s unfathomable how much joy this scientific advancement has brought.’
