HE STANDS at the top of his driveway looking like something from a men’s fashion magazine: designer stubble, red Adidas X Gucci tracksuit and sneakers, Rolex on his wrist – and don’t even think of asking if it’s the real deal.
Peet Viljoen doesn’t do fake. “If you can’t afford a Rolex, don’t wear a watch,” he says. For him it’s all about the shine and the house he lives in with his wife, Mel. It’s behind high walls in the exclusive Woodhill Estate in the east of Pretoria, a glamorous mansion with glass and marble and the finest furnishings and fittings.
Each night they lay their heads on top-quality pillow slips and sleep with a clear conscience. Nothing keeps them awake – especially not the accusations being levelled at them by the boss of the Tammy Taylor nail empire.
Tammy has doubled down on her long-standing beef with the couple, claiming in a recent viral video that they were illegally selling her products and had opened franchises using her business’ name and forged her signature.
Tammy, who lives in America, also said she was being threatened, harassed and stalked by the couple. She claims they stole her identity and wants $100 million from them.
“It’s not going to happen,” Peet (55) says. The Viljoens say the trademark belongs to them and they established it after entering into a business agreement with Tammy.
