HE'S wildly successful and ridiculously rich, he's a Hollywood heavy hitter, he's dated some of the most beautiful women in the world and he's married to Jennifer Lopez.
Any way you look at it, Ben Affleck should be the happiest man on Earth. He’s one of the lucky ones, a golden guy who doesn’t have to get bogged down in the woes of regular mortals.
The look that said, "Get me outta here", at the recent Grammy Awards ceremony with wife J Lo.
He’ll never have to fret about running out of money in January or book a budget bed and breakfast for a holiday he didn’t need to save up for. He’ll never have to rent a tux for a fancy do and he’ll never have to worry about who to take to that do either.
He’s Mr Jennifer Lopez and that alone should make it impossible to keep a grin from splitting his face in two.
Instead, what does he do? He glares, he zones out, he looks tortured.
Sure, Ben has had his fair share of trouble in the past. He lost J Lo in 2002, battled his drink demons, divorced another Jennifer (Garner, mom of his three kids) and had to apologise for groping two women at the height of the #MeToo movement.
But that was then. Things have moved on – and then some. Jennifer Lopez wants you, for heaven’s sake. Look alive, Ben!
But either he can’t or he won’t or he doesn’t care – or he hates so much of what comes with being a celebrity he just can’t smile. So, instead of being one of the most envied men on the planet, Ben has become something else: a meme.
