SHE’S had her fair share of knocks over the years, including her high-profile split from Justin Bieber, trouble coping with her lupus diagnosis and dealing with mental health and body-image problems.
But now, after years of being bogged down by social media bullies, Selena Gomez is finally giving herself grace.
Selena (31) recently revealed she had to hit rock bottom before she got the mental health treatment she needed.
She also said her 2022 documentary, My Mind and Me – which was filmed over six years and detailed how she struggled with confidence and suicidal thoughts – has changed how she treated herself.
“It makes me sick to hear the things I was saying about myself in the beginning. It bums me out,” she said earlier this month during a panel discussion on mental health in Austin, Texas.
“It’s important to speak to yourself with kindness but I don’t think I really understood that at the start of the film.”
Of course, it helps that she’s in a healthy relationship too. The actress and singer has been dating music producer Benny Blanco since December and the pair seem to be madly in love.
“Part of me feels like I’m finally at a good place with everything in my life,” Selena says.
“It took a couple of tries but I’d like to think and hope that I’m in a much better place now.”
We look at how the Disney darling found her joy again.
