The Maldives has been blowing up on our Instagram feeds for a while now. And a significant reason why the buzz refuses to die down is because of how exquisite the scenery is...and its proximity to India. A short flight from most Indian cities will set your exotic vacation in motion. And the Velana International Airport—which, by the way, claims its own island—might be a fraction of the size of other airports across the globe, but their visa on arrival process is seamless.

Once you land in Malé, OBLU SELECT Lobigili is a swift, 15-minute speed-boat ride away. The boat ride in itself is an unforgettable experience, for it takes one through the blue-green waters that are so famously photographed by travel buffs as soon as they enter the Maldivian territory.

As one gets closer to the property, you can spot a beautiful, heart-shaped island, which will remind you of a romcom setting. Interestingly, in the Maldivian dialect of Dhivehi, ‘Lobi’ means love, and ‘Gili’ means island. You can even opt for a private dining experience on this mini island, which also makes for the perfect spot to declare your love to your SO (or even propose to them).
