Think of an iconic and classic watch design, and one of the first few that come to mind will be the Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust. The Datejust is the archetype of the classic watch pioneered by Rolex, immediately recognisable by its date window at 3 o'clock. This classic piece from Rolex comes in many sizes, with the original size in 36mm and other renditions including the 41mm for that slightly oversized look, or the daintier 31mm, a popular choice of size for women.
Launched in 1945, the Oyster Perpetual Datejust has continuously captured the attention of many for the past 77 years, with a striking aesthetic that has remained largely unchanged. Case in point, the date display window at 3 o'clock, fitted with a Cyclops lens for better readability, makes this timepiece instantly recognisable.
The Datejust also features many of the major innovations that the Swiss watchmaker has contributed to the modern wristwatch. This can be seen clearly in this year's Datejust 31 timepiece, with its three models featuring three different dial colours and bracelets.
