ELLE: How do you feel your first collection set the tone for your brand’s future direction? Pranav Misra (PM):
The first collection was simply our initial baby step toward finding our design direction. We took it as a jumping-off platform and kept creating until we found our voice and what we see today as HUEMN’s sensibility.
ELLE: What would you say is your brand’s signature style or piece that has stood the test of time?
PM: The Insignia Gorilla, handcrafted in 2013, still finds its way into people’s wardrobes. It’s a classic. Apart from an innovative surface, it digs deeper into the psyche of the brand, which stands for human evolution: that one is constantly reinventing oneself, and learning and evolving never stops.
ELLE: If you could go back and give advice to yourself at the start of your career, what would it be?
PM: Patience is the strongest virtue.
