KEEPING IT CLASSIC
Rajesh Pratap Singh presented his quintessential sharp androgynous tailoring with a slight old-school feel. Think: A classic double-breasted pinstripe jacket with a clashing checked neck scarf and polka dot pocket square, light-as-air handloom fabrics cut in cropped trouser sets, and relaxed threepiece suits in unusual colour combos. JJ Valaya, on the other hand, took a traditional approach with a monochromatic palette and classic cuts. Slim trousers paired with Nehru jackets and button-down shirts made for a modern take on Indianwear.
EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED
Pushing boundaries and gender norms, designers took the chance to showcase their subversive designs. Siddartha Tytler presented dressy evening blazers with skinny ties paired with layered tulle skirts alongside mesh-draped blouses worn with classic suiting that would be ideal for after-dark beach parties. At Rohit Gandhi + Rahul Khanna, we saw boxy jackets with corded patterns styled with long tasselled skirt-like styles worn over slim trousers-proving that silhouettes need not follow preconceived gender notions.
SPORTS CLASS
Steering clear from their usual stretch fabrics and sexy draped fits, Shantnu & Nikhil presented a slew of preppy styles that included striped polos, logo-emblazoned button-downs and varsity jackets as part of their eponymous cricket club. Also keeping with the preppy athletic theme, Dhruv Vaish reimagined the classic sports jacket by styling them with tone-on-tone longer length kurtas, wide-legged trousers, chalky baseball caps, and of course, white sneakers.
