The starcast of “Ponniyin Selvan 2” - Chiyaan Vikram, Trisha Krishnan, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Sobhita Dhulipala, Aishwarya Lekshmi met the press in Delhi while they were here for the promotions of the second instalment of the Ponniyin Selvan franchise.

The first instalment of veteran director Mani Ratman’s “Ponniyin Selvan I” did not just rule the hearts of the audiences only, it was well appreciated by the critics as well for its overall aesthetic value, for the beautiful way of storytelling of the Chola Dynasty, spectacular starcast and larger than life cinematography and screenplay.

The two-part “Ponniyin Selvan” chronicles the story of the early days of Arulmozhivarman (Jayam Ravi), one of the most powerful kings in the south, who went on to become the great Chola emperor Rajaraja Chola I. The second part of “Ponniyin Selvan” offers a “recap” of the first installment to the viewers which will make it “easier to follow” the story. Karthi, who plays Vallavaraiyan Vandiyadevan added that ‘PS I’ has done enough to set up ‘PS 2’ to go bigger,” and he agreed to the fact that the audiences in the north found “Ponniyin Selvan I” difficult to follow as he got this feedback from his friends then I had to explain the story to them and sent them the WhatsApp forwards of the simple gist of the story. It was just a paragraph and after that they were able to follow and it became easier,” Karthi added. He further reiterated that the faces are also familiar, so one doesn’t have to remember the names.
