Let’s face it: Sometimes all you want in life (we’re not judging) is uniformed butlers, celebrity chefs, state-of-the-art spas, formal dress dinners, and caviar by the pool—destination be damned. The vessels that follow—among the newest and most fabulous of the ultraluxe set—should do the trick. One has 4,000 recipes to choose from across eight restaurants; another, a specially commissioned Fabergé egg to sashay past on your way to dinner. Another has a rich menu of mind-expanding lectures and, in its spa, of meditative treatments. (Tried a Tibetan sound bath lately?) And, yes, we’ve included a sampler of their upcoming itineraries—just to bring you back to earth. Because (sorry, T.S. Eliot) the destination is as important as the journey.
REGENT SEVEN SEAS GRANDEUR
True to its name, this ship’s vibe is more grand hotel than oceangoing vessel: sweeping staircases, statement marbles, lofty ceilings. In the Compass Rose restaurant you’ll dine beneath treelike forms encrusted with crystals; the ship’s art collection includes a specially commissioned Fabergé egg (quite hypnotizing; value undisclosed). The humblest suite is 307 square feet (with a marble bathroom and balcony, natch), and the largest measures 4,443 square feet (and costs $11,000 per night). Most thrilling: the fact that absolutely everything, from specialty dining to excursions, is included—even laundry. I took curious pleasure in using the service. Every day.
Standout trip This spring’s Caribbean 10-night roundtrip from Miami, departing March 5.
