Because practically everything that goes into your body, both good and bad, passes through the liver. When operating at its peak, the liver can filter almost two quarts of blood per minute and easily demolish toxins. So, you can understand how important a role the liver plays in your wellbeing. However, the liver is also subjected to a lot of abuse. Alcohol, pollution, secondhand smoke, allergens, a poor diet, and even stress can take their toll on the liver, making it sluggish.
