Professional numismatist, successful real estate developer, philanthropist and former sports agent Dwight N. Manley brings passion, determination, humanity and commitment to every project.
Manley served as a member of the California governor's committee that helped select the design for the 2005 California state quarterdollar. He started collecting at the age of 6 when he was given a 1909 Lincoln cent.
As a teenager, he worked at Orange County, California's, oldest coin shop, Fullerton Coins, and is now the owner of that store.
In 1981, at the age of 15, Manley received a scholarship from the American Numismatic Association (ANA) so he could attend a seminar entitled "All About Coins" taught by his hobby idol, acclaimed numismatist Q. David Bowers.
In 2003, the ANA named its library in Colorado Springs, Colorado, in honor of Manley in recognition of his generous financial support, including a $250,000 endowment. Manley donated another $250,000 when he suggested a way for the ANA to expand its educational mission by creating the Florence Schook School of Numismatics in 2008 to honor the legacy and memory of one of his numismatic mentors.
In 2021, Manley donated to the ANA what is now known as the Baker-Manley Collection, a multimillion-dollar set of nearly 1,000 historic George Washington medals, including a gold funeral medal and an oval Indian peace medal from Manley's personal collection.
