Bettys Cafe Tea Rooms

There are now six different Bettys cafes across Yorkshire but the oldest, and arguably the grandest, is the Harrogate branch, in operation since 1919. Ask for a window seat, looking over the town's leafy Stray, and take your time over an Imperial Breakfast. As the name suggests, it's a regal spread, including loose-leaf tea or coffee, orange juice, the cafe's signature Bircher muesli, pain au chocolat, fruit loaf with crème fraîche and berries and a choice of miniature rösti: poached egg and avocado, scrambled eggs and smoked salmon or poached egg and dry-cured bacon. A menu of individual breakfast dishes is also available. bettys.co.uk
