MEET THE EXPERTS
BARRIE CUTCHIE, DESIGN DIRECTOR, BC DESIGNS
‘For years, we chose to make small bathrooms and more of them, but the trend for 2025 will be to go large with quality over quantity.’
JEN THOMPSON, SENIOR FURNITURE DESIGNER, ROPER RHODES
‘Bathroom design will be all about selfexpression, wellness and personality.’
LEE THORNLEY, FOUNDER, BERT & MAY
‘I expect to see more natural materials and earthy-toned schemes in 2025, as we continue to seek grounding through nature.’
Big bathroom plans for the new year, but no idea how or where to start? Bathrooms are changing as our needs for this once wash-andgo space become increasingly demanding when it comes to both aesthetics and functionality. We asked three experts, two from the world of bathroom design and one from a renowned tile brand, to share their predictions for the designs of 2025 and beyond.
DESIGN PREDICTIONS ‘The bathrooms of 2025 will be bigger and better than ever,’ says Barrie, ‘as we give more space to create the bathroom of our dreams, with more features that are about indulgence, such as large freestanding baths and rainfall showers.’
‘We’ll also be focusing less on big, overarching trends, such as minimalism or maximalism, and more on making meaningful decisions that reflect individual style while creating timeless, comfortable spaces,’ says Jen, adding, ‘and now there is so much choice.’ There’s also an increasing consideration for the environment: ‘Water and energy-saving functionality in bathrooms will only continue to grow,’ says Lee.
