HOME NOTES
WHO LIVES HERE?
Kristina Rosing, partner in Ragnar Watches & Jewels and creative director of Rosing Fine Jewellery, lives here with fiancé Niklas Stentoft Klug and sons Alexander, five, and Felix, two.
THE PROPERTY
A three-bed detached villa built in 1918, in Charlottenlund, Denmark.
Having outgrown apartment and city living in the heart of Copenhagen, Kristina and her fiancé Niklas were ready to embrace their next life stage. We loved the city, the atmosphere and being close to restaurants and shops,' says Kristina, but when our son Alexander was born, we hankered after a house with a nice little garden in a peaceful area, where the air was fresher, and where we could start our new life as a family. This place ticked all of our boxes, and more. The couple fell in love not just with the house, which they bought in May 2017, but with its location close to both the forest and the coast. 'Charlottenlund is like a small city outside the main city. It's very cosy, with lots of unique boutiques and bakeries, and only 15 minutes from Copenhagen.'
Kristina and Niklas initially agreed that the house was pretty much perfect as it was, with almost no updating required, bar the painting of a few walls. But that view soon changed. 'We realised that a little remedial work would really benefit the house, and us. The bathrooms were a little old and shabby, so we ended up renovating these, as well as upgrading the electrics. We built cupboard storage in the basement, fitted bespoke wardrobes in our bedroom, and had handcrafted radiator covers made, in keeping with the property's overall look.' The palette throughout is soft and pared-back, with walls painted a delicate grey to highlight the couple's collection of artwork, stucco details and decorative panels.
