A Stylish Upgrade

Interior designer Elise Peng founder of EP Interiors worked closely with the homeowner to breathe new life into this cottage bungalow in Longford.
A Stylish Upgrade

When she purchased this bungalow, the homeowner knew that a renovation and redecoration was needed to bring it inline with her preferred interior style. To help her achieve the look she was after, she enlisted the help of interior designer Elise Peng founder of EP Interiors.

As Elise explains, The house was still in its original condition and hadn't been updated since it was built back in the 70s. It had four bedrooms, one of which had a washbasin next to the bed, a large kitchen, one formal sitting room, one dining room, two bathrooms and utility.

With two grown-up children who would visit and stay occasionally, the house was mainly to work for the homeowner herself. She wished to modernise the space, making it functional yet cosy, as well as easy to maintain.’

Working alongside builders A&F Construction and architect Eva Williams, Elise was able to ensure the decision-making process was easier and less overwhelming for the homeowner. The homeowner and I appreciate similar designs which includes clean-lines, as well as Scandinavian and quality-designed furniture, so we were off to a good start. By ensuring that the design process was well laid out before we started and then maintaining good communication throughout the renovation, furniture sourcing process and styling, we built up a good working relationship,’ adds Elise.

‘Working within the existing footprint of the bungalow and knocking down two internal walls, we reconfigured the space to offer three bedrooms, the master bedroom with dressing room and ensuite, a large open-plan kitchen/living/dining area with utility room, a formal sitting room and a bathroom. This has resulted in a home which ticks all the functional needs of its owner and is more in keeping with modern day living.
