A fresh lick of PAINT

Colour is, without contest, the first choice for transforming the look and feel of your home. But painting can be a labour-intensive and costly exercise - so avoid an eyesore and endless regret by selecting a palette that best complements your taste, style and use of the space. Our colour experts guide you on the latest paint palettes.

TRENDING TASTES Trends are never just about one colour. Different colour palettes have their own narrative and personality - just like the people that pick them. Herman Rabe, technical training manager at Prominent Paints, says that as we move out of winter into the warmer summer months, colours inspired by nature continue to trend. He recommends shades that can create an easy and open backdrop that embraces any mix of furniture or furnishings. "Olive Sprig - PPG's 2022 Colour of the Year - remains a constant on the trend leader board. It's perfect for any interior space - it can create a sanctuary for a bedroom yet it's equally strong in a kitchen, paired with brass accents and wood tones on an island or lower kitchen cabinets. Black Leopard, on the other hand, adds unexpected drama to a space and is growing in popularity as a contemporary paint choice, while essential neutrals never go out of fashion and add value to any canvas of colours."
