Setting aside space in your home where you can relax and unwind has become more of a necessity than a luxury. “Having a calm oasis in your home to practise what appeals to you is very important in these often hectic modern times,” says Schanè Anderson of Olala Interiors. “Such a self-care space could be a private snug or relaxation corner away from the main living area or between bedrooms, a reading nook or library to curl up with your favourite book, or an exterior lounge or patio area with a fire pit.”

Decorate your self-care space carefully to enhance the experience. “Think about emphasising natural lighting and incorporating greenery,” says Anderson. “Consider scented candles and diffusers, how different textures and fabrics will work in different spaces – cosy layers for snuggling or natural elements such as wood and rattan to evoke fresh feelings of summer.”
