Totally COOL

Temperature control within a home has never been more important than now, with temperatures dropping to extreme lows and rising to crazy highs. This is why heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems are vital for the contemporary South African home.

A CENTRAL SOLUTION The new trend is to use central aircons in homes, says Andrew Rossouw of Pinnacle Air Conditioning. "Central aircon systems are energy efficient and, when linked to sophisticated control systems that allow accurate room control, turn an ordinary unit into an even more energy-efficient solution."

Control systems also allow users to cool only the areas in use. "This allows us to use a smaller unit to cover a larger part of your home, which translates to saving energy."

Zoning, now common, is a direct result of the significant move towards smart home integration over the last few years, adds Zak Khan of Advantage Air. "Although the concept of zoning has been around for a number of years, how those zones are controlled has evolved. With an integrated smart home solution like MyAir, you can control the temperature in your room from one central home hub or the mobile app," he reveals.

What's amazing about this technology? "When you have access to the system (via the app), you can control the temperature in your home from anywhere. So, during those blistering hot summer days, you can always come home to a cool house."
