Creating a timeless interior takes considerable skill, attention to detail, and the right set of quality furnishings to suit the owners’ needs. For Singaporean interior designer Lawrence Puah, Australian brand King Living is certainly one of the notable offerings that he shortlists for his clients.
“There are many great features about King Living’s furniture, but two things stand out for me. First, the wide variety of designs that cater to different styles of interior, making them a great match with the different designs that we’ve created; and secondly, the fantastic recliner sofa designs,” says Puah, who is the director and founder of homegrown firm Akihaus.
These qualities complement his creative philosophy, which focuses on a “life-centred approach” that balances clever spatial planning with the aesthetics of every project. “We strive to fuse new proposed forms and details with the existing spaces so much so that the new design appears to always have been part of the original architecture,” says Puah.
NATURAL POISE
The designer highlights the Reo II Recliner Sofa, which he considers one of his favourite designs from King Living as it pairs a beautiful form with the comfort that a reclining sofa can offer. “When retracted, you can never tell that it is a recliner at all; the lightness of the elevated platform skilfully balances the plush cushioning to ensure that the sofa never looks bulky, unlike so many other recliner sofas,” he says.
