Riding on an acquisition spree over the years, Vedanta has emerged as one of the world's largest natural-resources companies. The company has its footprint in all major commodities, such as zinc, oil & gas, aluminium, iron ore, copper and more recently steel. It is also a market leader in many of these segments.
Vedanta has an interesting history which dates back to 1954 when it was established as Scambi Economici SA Goa. Later, it became Sesa Goa. Iron-ore mining was its core business and thereafter, it ventured into shipbuilding.
