STREET TALK

Anusha B

From: Moved to Singapore from Hong Kong

Occupation: Teacher

What’s the name of your street?

Tanah Merah Kechil Avenue.

If it’s in another language, what does it mean?

“Little Red Earth Avenue.”

What’s a common myth or misconception about your neighbourhood?

That we are very close to the airport. It still takes 15 to 20 minutes to drive there.

Exact words you tell a taxi driver to get home?

“Uncle, we’re going to Tanah Merah Kechil Avenue, near Tanah Merah MRT.”

Closest MRT station?

Tanah Merah (green East West Line).

How long have you lived here? Why here?

Two years. When we moved from Hong Kong in September 2021, we were after a four-bedder in the East. We came across this beautiful condo, Casa Merah, that has four-bedroom units, a wonderful community, and is located right next to the MRT. It worked well for our family.

NEIGHBOURHOOD HIGHLIGHTS

When you walk out of your place, what’s the first thing you see?

The beautiful landscaping of the condo. You feel like you’re at a resort! There are multiple lagoon pools, water features, palm trees and even well-maintained flower bushes with ginger and heliconia flowers. It’s so serene.

What’s the closest store to your front door?

Everything at East Village shopping centre – Haig Road Putu Piring is a fave.

We’re sure your neighbours are great, but is there anything you wouldn’t mind a little less of?

The unending construction project just around the corner. Thankfully, it isn’t noisy.
