Among these disorders, depression and anxiety are particularly prevalent, with rates of high-functioning anxiety on the uptick, especially among career-driven expats.

“For expats, mental health issues are often compounded by the difficulties of adjusting to a new culture, navigating an unfamiliar workplace environment, work-related stress, and a lack of social and support networks,” says SUDI NARASIMHAN, CEO of The Cabin Chiang Mai, a resort-style inpatient centre that offers specialised treatment for anxiety and depression.
