UNDER THE HAMMER

This international auction house will celebrate the centenary of modernist FN Souza at The Oberoi on September 14. Some of Souza's iconic works, which are part of a private collection, will be auctioned. A central figure in modern Indian art, Souza's method reflected a blend of Eastern and Western influences drawing inspiration from Romanesque art, Indian sculpture, and the folk traditions of Goa.

A solo show, titled Elsewhere in Northeast India, by Chandan Bez Baruah is a must-visit if you are like the artist who finds solace in the forests and wants to escape the urban congestion. On display at Latitude 28 gallery in Delhi, the show presented by Bhavna Kakar is on view till September 20. Curated by artist Waswo X Waswo, the exhibit incudes Baruah's intricate woodcuts, which capture the untamed beauty of Assam's landscapes while addressing contemporary conflicts and human encroachments.
